After a five years without having a local team win the 10th annual Sterling Crossman Memorial Men’s Slopitch Tournament, Hagens Heroes broke the chain.
After a huge come-from-behind 23-22 win in the semi finals against the Kenora Astros, the Heroes headed to the final against the Print Gear Blitz.
The boys once again found themselves behind but rallied halfway through the game to blow past the Blitz with a score of 27-11 and earned the $1,100 grand prize.
The Blitz overcame the Wolfpack in the semi finals with an impressive 33-6 win.
The Blitz were looking to break their losing streak in the tournament final but were once again denied, going four consecutive years without a trophy.
In the B-side final, the the Astros scored six runs in the ninth for a comeback  21-20 win over the Wolfpack.
In the C-side finals, the Alcobolics took a 20-19 win over the McKinstry Chargers.
Teams from Atikokan, Fort Frances and International Falls, Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Dryden participated in the event.
