It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Zubrecki on Sunday July 18th, 2010 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Edward was predeceased by his loving wife, Doreen, and his son David.
Ed is survived by his daughter Debra Parr and son-in-law Robert Parr of Dryden, two grandsons; Christopher and David Parr of Ottawa, and his sister Helen Muir of Thunder Bay, his sister-in-law Valerie Philpotts of Kitchner/Waterloo, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Edward was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba in 1933, and was raised in Ignace, Ontario, he attended Port Arthur Collegiate in Thunder Bay for high school, and returned to Ignace, where he was employed by the CPR.
He married Doreen Philpotts in 1957. They moved to Dryden in 1963, where he was employed by the Brewer’s Retail and worked there until he retired.
He enjoyed family get-togethers and card games where he could challenge and win against the young ones.
The past four years he resided with his daughter and son-in-law in Dryden, and enjoyed family times.
Visitation for the late Ed Zubrecki was held Thursday, July 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday July 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel with Velma Henderson officiating. Interment followed at the Dryden Cemetery.
