News — 29 June 2010

Routine maintenance at the water treatment plant on Wednesday, June 23 caused some excitement around Dryden. When the emergency pump was turned on, a pressure spike pushed holes through three pipes in town.

Colonization Ave was closed from Duke Street to Arthur Street after the water pushed up through the pavement and flooded the roadway. Pipes also burst on Victoria Street and Highway 17 near IGA.
All three pipes had weak spots where the water burst through and were due for repair within the next year. City workers finished digging up and repairing the pipes within a few hours of the spike. No residential damage was reported.
