Gordon Ross McAuley (Mac) passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre the morning of Friday, May 21, 2010.
Gordon was born at McAuley, Manitoba, April 15, 1936.
He is survived by brother Rodney (Winnipeg), sister Lois Goodwin and brother-in-law Warren and was predeceased by his parents Lillie and Ewart of Atikokan, sister-in-law Dorothy (Rod’s wife) and two of their children Margaret and Ewart.
Gordon is survived by wife Patricia (McKay) whom he met in Dryden and married in Thompson, Manitoba. Their children are Susan (Gary), Scott, Kevin and Kerry (Candace). He is also survived by brother-in-law Ronald McKay (Gwen), sisters-in-law Linda Lambert, JoAnn Wintle (Sidney), and Terry Davis. Numerous nieces and nephews survive as well as fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Gordon is survived by his previous wife Sylvia Clark and their children Brian (Doris), Glenda (Ed), Janet (Russ), Randy (Cheryl) and Dale.
Gord loved the electrical trade and had his own electrical construction business in Winnipeg. He retired from Lakehad Scrap Metal as its General Manager and enjoyed working with the people there. He valued the friendship of Eddy Przednowek and Jack and Mel Lazaruk of Winnipeg.
He loved sports – especially coaching his sons in baseball, T-ball and hockey. Gord said he had wonderful care at the Thunder Bay and Hamilton hospitals. He couldn’t praise the nurses and doctors enough – especially Drs. Sacevich, Dodick, Lai, Gooding Wright and the emergency personnel.
If friends desire, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Association.
At his request, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place and family will meet at a later date.
