Busters Barbeque made a very special announcement on June 2.
The Vermilion Bay business has signed a contract with distributing company Mariner Neptune to start distributing their famous barbeque sauce from Thunder Bay to Canada’s west coast and internationally into the United States.
Vice President of Busters, Natalie Welniak says the team is very excited about their new business venture.
“It’s taken a lot of really hard work but it’s extremely humbling to be able to bring our products beyond Northwestern Ontario.
It allows our products to be sold in a lot more places and it allows people to be able to get it anywhere they want instead of ordering it online or getting their friends to pick it up for them.”
Signing a big contract wasn’t the only good news for Busters Barbeque in the last few months.
They’ve picked up another seven awards awards during their recent trip to the Great American Invitational & Open Contest in Kansas City last month.
The business has been entering competitions with their famous BBQ sauce for the past few years and has already racked up 40 awards.
“The awards have been a great way to generate awareness about our products and get them out into the public,” says Welniak.
This year, Busters Barbeque added a fifth place, fourth place, third place, two second place finishes and placed fifth overall out of 130 entries a the competition.
They also earned the “People’s Choice” award for the second year in a row for their Busters Blueberry Barbeque Sauce.
The business is stirring up attention at the local level as they picked up an award earlier in the year.
They were honoured with the “Marketing Excellence Award” at the Dryden District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
The Welniaks have been making Busters Barbeque Sauce since 1995 and won their first award in Kansas in 1997.
The sauce is currently being sold in 35 locations around Northwestern Ontario.
