Ottoline Amelia Owen (nee Cornelius) passed away at Princess Court on April 24, 2010 at the age of 87 after a short illness. Ottoline was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bud) Owen.
She will be greatly missed by her four children: Lawrence Wilton (Margaret) of Dryden, Ed Wilton (Elaine) of Ottawa, Don Wilton (Lynn) of Dryden, Thelma de Haan (Peter) of Thunder Bay. She was graced with seven grandchildren: Vanessa Wilson (Joey) of Prince George, Darryl Wilton (Suzanne) and Dan Wilton (Amanda) of Ottawa, Julia Wilton of Washington, D.C., Michael, Joshua, and Jessica de Haan of Thunder Bay. Her great granddaughters, Diamond and Jade Wilson, and Kayla and Rebecca Wilton, provided her with many hours of enjoyment. She will also be missed by her close friend and sister-in-law, Helen Cornelius.
Ottoline raised her family in Dryden and enjoyed many family get-togethers. After she retired as Radio Dispatcher from Dryden Police Services, Ottoline volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed meeting her friends to play cribbage and euchre at the Go-Getters Activity Centre. She was also a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of the United Church. Over the years, Ottoline enjoyed dancing, curling, and assembling family memory books of photographs and genealogy. Needlework was another of her favourite pastimes, and she lovingly gave finished pieces to close friends and family.
Ottoline was born at her aunt’s house on Princess Street. When she moved into Princess Court she commented that her life had started and would end on the same street.
A Memorial Service was held Thursday April 29th at Stevens Funeral Homes. A private interment was held on Friday April 30th.
