Elizabeth (Veen) Bakala – 1922 – 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Elizabeth (Veen) Bakala, age 87 of Princess Court, who passed away on Thursday May 13, 2010 at her residence.

Elizabeth Bakala is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Jim) Gilbertson of Kamloops, BC, Bertha Puddicombe of Winnipeg, MB, Nick Bakala of Manitou, Karel (Marilyn) Bakala of Richan, ON, Jim (Holly) Bakala of Dryden, ON, Paula (Tom) Francis of Kenora, ON and Ella (Brian) McDonald of Winnipeg, MB. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Nick in November, 1993.

Elizabeth was born in Amsterdam, Holland, where she met her future husband Nick Bakala in the fall of 1944. They were married on July 12th, 1945. She then came to Hiensberg, Alberta as a War Bride in December, 1946, then to Amesdale in the spring of 1950.

Raised as a city girl and an only child, ending up as a farm girl raising 7 kids.

She enjoyed a lengthy stay at Princess Court.

A private Graveside  Service will take place at a later date.
