Andre Joseph Petroff – March 10, 1944 – March 17, 2010

Andre was born in Trois Rivieres, Quebec March 10, 1944 and died at home in Toronto, Ontario March 17, 2010 after a courageous six year battle with various cancers.

Andre received his schooling in Trois Rivieres and worked in a men’s clothing store there before coming to Toronto about 1966.

Shortly after arriving in Toronto he met Melvine Parker and they were married in Toronto, September 1, 1972. Andre worked at various jobs in Toronto and had two businesses of his own: Mapp Wooden Fencing and then Quick Messenger Service before starting to work as a bonded messenger for Dean Witter Reynolds (Canada). Andre kept this job surviving three takeovers of this business ending as a messenger for CIBC World Markets from whom he took a retirement package at age 58 when the company downsized. He then went to work for two years for The Commissionaires Great Lakes doing security work.

Andre enjoyed walking, bike riding and studying the stock market trends on his computer. He was an industrious, inventive minded person with a good sense of humour.

He was predeceased by his adoptive parents, Louis Petroff  and Medora (Marineau) Petroff of Trois Rivieres.

Andre is survived by his wife Melvine of Toronto, and sister-in-law Velma Parker of Ottawa. He is also survived by his daughter Sylvie and stepson Andre Inkel from his first marriage, his maternal aunt Mme. Suzanne Dufresne and many many cousins, all of Trois Rivieres, Quebec.

At Andre’s request there has been no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and his ashes have been buried with his father-in-law, Melville Parker, in the Dryden Cemetery, Dryden, Ontario. Burial arrangements were done by Bates and Dodds Funeral Chapel of King Street, Toronto with the assistance of Dryden Community Funeral Home, Dryden, Ontario.
