It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Paul Arnold McGinn on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with his family by his side.
Paul was born in Toronto on December 3, 1928 to Mary and John McGinn. He was the middle child of seven children.
Paul came to the Dryden area in 1949 where he started working in Dyment cutting wood. He soon moved into Dryden and had various jobs which included working for Fred Cornwall, Town of Dryden, Danier Electric and for Clarence Pearson. He was a “jack-of-all-trades.” He found fulfillment in his career when he started working for the Dryden Board of Education as a caretaker and later became maintenance supervisor to the area schools.
In 1959 Paul married the love of his life, Joyce Wice. They moved to a house on Leach Road in 1967 and this is where they raised their family and he lived until his passing.
Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, garage sales, working in his shop and going for coffee with his coffee buddies. For years Paul would collect anything that he could get his hands on, but in later years he concentrated on his stamp collection. Paul and his children spent many winter evenings working on his stamps.
Paul McGinn is survived by his wife of fifty years, Joyce; his son Patrick (Karen), and daughter Katharine (Richard Allen); his #1 granddaughter, Jennifer Allen and his step-grandson Wayne (Jennifer) and great grandson David Morrison, all of Dryden. Also surviving are his sisters Patricia Sassone of Glendora, California, Ruth (George Dewar) of Ridgeville, ON; brother John McGinn of Toronto and sister-in-law Sylvia McGinn of Grand Island, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his son, Kelvin Dale; his grandson Jeffrey Allen; his brothers Manley, Wesley, and Benjamin McGinn and his parents.
Funeral services for the late Paul McGinn were held Thursday, November 12, 2009 in the Moffat Chapel of the Stevens Funeral Homes with Reverend Mary Mennell officiating. Pallbearers were Patrick McGinn, Richard Allen, Michael McGinn, Scott McGinn, Murray Miller, and Wayne Morrison. Honorary pallbearers were Al Kosik, Ed Hatch, Arny Wager, Fred Doudiet, Albert Lamb and Edwin Swanson. Interment at the Dryden Cemetery followed.

GOD CALLED
God looked around his
garden,
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth,
And saw your tired face
He put his arm around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that your were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw that the road was getting rough
And the hills are hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered, “Peace Be Thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
