It is with profound sadness that the family of Michael Pateman announces his sudden passing on November 6, 2009.
Michael loved his family more than words can describe.
He leaves his beloved Lynne whom he cherished as his partner and his best friend; his children Chelsea, Mitchell and Jayne – whom he was so proud; his parents Raymond and Maria and his sister Marg (Richard). All of the brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and the rest of the extended family will always remember the big grin on his face and glint in his eye that signaled a good conversation was about to begin.
Mike was the dad at the hockey games, the skating rink, the swimming pool, the horse shows, the soccer pitch and the baseball diamond supporting his kids in all of their activities.
Mike was a volunteer firefighter for the Oxdrift Fire Department for many years where he was a Captain and Instructor. He was a “fixer of anything”, a tool collector and always had a project on the go.
Mike was born in Dryden and raised in Oxdrift where he lived the majority of his life. He spent a year in Calgary and a year in Winnipeg learning to fly both helicopters and planes in the ’80s. It was during that time Mike and two partners owned Dryden Flight Centre where he was a flight instructor and taught many people the joy of flying.
All of Mike’s working career he considered himself a pilot between jobs when he wasn’t in the air.
Michael’s life was celebrated on Saturday, November 14, 2009 in Dryden at the United Church with Alice Bloomfield officiating.
With all my
Heart and Soul.
