Jack James Louis Mulyk – December 14, 1928 – November 15, 2009

Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Jack left us to be with his Heavenly Father. He now joins relatives; mom (Helen), father (Luka) and a newborn daughter (Mary).
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife (Laura) of 56 years; his children, Donald (Leslie) of Toronto, David (Gloria) of Germanson’s Landing – northern BC, Kathryn Mulyk-Brownlee of Mississauga, Joseph of Dryden and James of Winnipeg. In addition, he leaves his sister Mary (Mike) Kirby of Calgary, Anne (Len) Motiuk of Calgary, brother John of Edmonton, and sister Kae (Bill) Gordica of Calgary. Finally he leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jack was born in Radway, Alberta, a Ukrainian farming community north of Edmonton. It was here that he attended all his primary schooling. Following graduation, he completed a Chemical Engineering degree at the University of Manitoba. A number of years later he completed a Master’s Degree in Business at the University of British Columbia.
Jack started his career in the pulp and paper industry in Marathon, Ontario where he met and married Laura Anderson (formerly of Dryden, Ontario). His career took him and his family from Marathon, Ontario to Manistee, Michigan, USA, to Castlegar, BC, to Luke, Maryland, USA, to Kennewick, Washington, USA, to DeRidder, Louisiana, USA, to North Vancouver, BC, to Mackenzie, BC, to Mississauga, Ontario, to Dryden, Ontario, to Czechoslovakia, to West Vancouver, BC, and back to North Vancouver, BC where he officially retired. Jack and Laura then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he started a consulting career with K. K. Pacific Intertrade Pte. Ltd. in Singapore. It was here, on January 30, 1995 that he had a severe stroke.
Jack was cremated according to his wishes and the funeral mass took place on Friday, November 20, 2009, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dryden, Ontario, presided by Father Alan Campeau.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Dahmer and all the staff who provided tender, loving care to Jack for the eight years he spent at Princess Court. Bless you all.
If friends so desire, donations may be made through Steven’s Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel”, P.O. Box 412, Dryden, Ontario for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A private burial took place on Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Dryden Cemetery.
