Peacefully at his home, Pierre passed away with family at his side. He lived a full life in God’s grace and went gently and joyfully to his eternal life.
Pierre enjoyed a loving and affectionate family. He knew great joys but also sorrow. He was predeceased by three children; Denis, Baby David and Valerie, two grandchildren; Dallas and Melanie, two brothers and one sister; Joseph, Jean and Leontine.
Pierre is survived and always loved by his wife; Yvette, children; Rachelle Weare (Mark), Ginette Samson (Mike), Norbert (Debbie), Lorraine Kirouac (Jerry), Emilie Krisko (George) and Daniel (Marie). Pierre is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pierre was born in Haywood Manitoba, the eldest son and fourth of thirteen children. As a young adult he owned a dump truck and hauled gravel to rebuild the highway around Morris. Through his sister, Marie, he met the love of his life, Yvette. In 1952 they married, bought a farm in Haywood and started their family. Pierre continued to work in construction, which brought him to Kenora, Thunder Bay and eventually to Dryden where he and Yvette settled in 1958.
In 1962 Father Dugal asked Pierre to get involved in the Catholic School Board. He was faithful in this service for twenty one years. Pierre was also always involved in church matters ensuring the church was always in good repair and oversaw many renovations over the years including the most recent major addition.
Pierre was a kind and gentle man, always willing to give of his time and energy. He was very devoted to his wife and family. He spent many summers with the family taking cross Canada camping trips. Pierre was always available to his children to answer childhood questions, helping with homework and life’s lessons. Pierre continued over many years to help his children with homes, cars and other matters and was actively involved in the lives of his grandchildren.
Pierre was very faithful in praying the Rosary and through his strong and silent witness he passed on his faith. His devotion to the Lord gave him great peace and promise of a wonderful life ahead.
