Peacefully at her home, Ellie was lifted, gently, into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 2, 2009, stepping over into the next part of her eternal life. Ellie was 58.
She was predeceased by her father James Grant Webster (1987); her mother Margaret Einarson (May 2009) and step-father Malvin Einarson (1997).
Ellie is survived and loved by her husband James Gordon Best; daughters Marnie (Shawn) Maunula of Kamloops; Kelly (Jason) MacDonald of Dryden; seven grandchildren; Ashley and Madison MacDonald; Jamie and Jordan Brezinski; Haley, Vanessa and Tyra Maunula.
Ellie is also survived and loved by her brothers; George Webster (Judi) – Winnipeg; Murray Webster (Hali) – Prince George; Dale Einarson (Karen) – Kamloops. Sisters; Lana Powel – Kamloops; Fawn Neilson (Ray) – Saskatoon and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was born in Winnipeg and raised in Swan River. She moved to Winnipeg as a young girl, attended high school and University of Manitoba (Social Work). She met Jim in 1966 and they were married in 1969.
Ellie moved to Dryden with Jim, once Jim had purchased a home, in the spring of 1977. Jim had been working in Dryden, on and off, from the fall of 1976. She was a young mom and stayed at home with her youngest daughter until school age.
She was the Sunday School Superintendent for some time at the United Church and felt it was very important for young children to be exposed to the Lord so as to make informed choices when they were older.
Ellen then ventured on to set up a Life Skills program for Dryden’s Davis Wood Place. Over the years she worked in Jim’s business until it was sold. At that time Ellen worked as executive director for Skills Ontario Dryden, setting up training programs for various trades in our area.
From that point on, Ellen went on to be Certified as an Optometric Technician working in all areas of eye care. She was very much loved by her co-workers and patients.
She was a Mom and friend to her children, children’s friends and to everyone she came in contact with. She was a wife beyond compare with very little thoughts for herself. She is a bright shining example of the love we are all called to be. Her devotion to the Lord gave her great peace and promise of a wonderful life, with family, waiting ahead.
A celebration of Ellie’s life and a service of remembrance will be held in Dryden on Friday, July 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Church with Pastor Greg McKee officiating.

The tide recedes,
but leaves behind
bright seashells in the sand.
The sun goes down,
but gentle warmth
still lingers on the land.
The music stops,
and yet it echoes
on in sweet refrains…
For every joy that passes,
— something beautiful remains.
