“A heart of gold stopped beating,
Hard working hands went to rest.”
It is with deep sadness that the family of Martin Rody announces the passing of a husband, father, stepfather, grandpa, uncle and brother.
He was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Oxdrift at a young age. After several years of working on the railroad, he moved on to the Dryden Paper Mill. He established a small family farm and enjoyed working in his garden and driving his tractor.
He met his wife Gwen Rody, 35 years ago, and they lived a quiet life on the farm in Oxdrift. Martin enjoyed blueberry picking, working the fields on his farm, Saturday night dancing, Word Search puzzles, and being there for his family. Martin retired from Avenor in 1994, which allowed him to spend all his free time helping his farmer friends, and spend fun filled days with his wife and family.
His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife Gwen. He leaves to mourn, his children, Darrell Rody (Angie), Lina Morrison, Norman Rody (Corrine), and Clara Rody (Armand), Darlene Catlin, Susan Bond (Wayne), Kathy McMillan (Richard), David Rose, and Janie Rose. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his son Larry Rody in January, 1995 and grandson Shane Hastings in 1982.
Martin will be sadly missed by his sisters Lida Wallin and Ann Bunn and his one brother Fred Rody.
He is predeceased by Alga Smith (Harry), and Robert Rody (Audrey).
