It is with deep sadness that the Franklin family announces Pat’s sudden passing at her home in Ladysmith, BC.
She was born in Dryden to Bill and Mabel Franklin, just a few hours short of becoming a leap-year baby. Daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, she was Patsy until she entered Dryden High School where she became Pat to her friends and teachers and to most of her family.
She leaves to mourn her husband Norm Hopkins of Ladysmith, BC; her son Patrick Taylor (Frances), grandchildren Christina and William of Surrey, BC; mother Mabel Franklin of Dryden; brothers George of Thunder Bay and Gordon (Osvalda) of Dryden; sister Wilma Bye (Milton) of Dryden and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Bill Franklin in 2004.
After completing High School, Pat started her BA degree at Lakehead, graduating from University of Manitoba. She returned to work in the Lakehead University library for a number of years. She also worked for the Federal Government in Kenora for many years. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family there.
She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. An avid golfer, she achieved 5 (five) holes-in-one at various courses from the Gulf of Mexico to Vancouver Island.
A memorial funeral service and interment of ashes took place on Wed. May 27 in Chemainus, BC.
