It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, wife and baba, Stephanie Findlay at 81 years of age.
Born in the Ukraine, Stephanie came to Canada in 1937 and her family settled in Ignace, ON.
She married her husband Bud in 1946 and they were blessed with 62 years of marriage. Together they founded and operated the Town and Country Motel in Dryden, retiring in 1975. They enjoyed their retirement winters in Yuma, Arizona.
Stephanie loved to garden and enjoyed her family visits and especially her grandchildren.
Stephanie was predeceased by her parents Helen and William Olynyk and her brother Ray Olynyk.
Stephanie is survived by her children Judy Oborne of Abbotsford, BC, Bill (Elaine) of Kelowna, BC, Ron (Marilyn) of Dryden, Terry (Shelley) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON; grandchildren Wendy, Chris, Mathew, Kathryn Oborne; Daron, Allison, Katie, Stephen and Adam Findlay. She is also survived by her brother Don (Karen) Olynyk of Chicago, Ill; sister Donna Kushneryk of Edmonton, AB and sister-in-law Patsy Olynyk of Corvallis, OR and nephews Brad and Brian Olynyk.
A memorial funeral service was held Friday, May 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the St Luke’s Anglican Church in Dryden with the Venerable Patricia Cleghorn officiating. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
