James Claire Wodham – December 22, 1924-May 9, 2009

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of James Claire Wodham. Jim was born December 22, 1924, in South Dorchester Township, Elgin County and passed away peacefully Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Jim served in Korea as a member of the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) regimental Association and was a member of Millwright Local 1151, United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America.
Jim leaves behind two sons, James (Victoria) and William (Elizabeth). One sister Elaine Harris of South Hampton, Ontario. His wife Ellen and two daughters Georgina (Alan) Taraschke and Tara (Greg) Barton. Seven grandchildren, Ryan, Jillian, (Eric) Champagne, Kimberly, Will (Lisa) Wodham, Josh, Megan and Christina Barton. One great grandchild Alexandra Wodham. One brother-in-law Bill (Pat) Morris, three sisters-in-law Isobel (Jack) Riddell, Joyce (Jack) Long and Hazel Acorn.
Jim was predeceased by one brother, David, and two sisters, Helen (George) Brown and Wilma Ostrander.
Jim was an avid ball player in his younger days and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a Hamilton Tiger Cats fan and enjoyed watching the Jays. Jim was an active member of the Legion Branch #63, Dryden and a member of the Dryden Go-Getters and the Dryden Ukrainian Society.
A memorial service will be held at the Dryden Community Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Mary Mennell officiating. A veteran’s memorial service will be conducted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations maybe made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63, Building Fund or Kenora/Rainy River District Palliative Care Program, Dryden Branch.
